RA 11898 - EPR Act

An act institutionalizing the Extended Producer Responsibility on Plastic Packaging Waste, amending for this purpose Republic Act No. 9003, otherwise known as the “Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000”.

DENR Administrative Order No. 2023-02, or Implementing Rules and Regulations (IRR) of RA 11898 to facilitate compliance.

This act requires companies with assets totalling ₱100M to assume responsibility for the environmental impact of their products throughout its entire lifecycle. This requires companies to eliminate an equivalent amount of plastic waste footprint that they have generated through their activities. This act aims to promote circular economy models. While there are are hefty penalties for non-compliance, there are enticing tax incentives for companies who are compliant.
